Zoosk All reviews, opinions and experiences

A Worldwide Dating Site

Zoosk is used all over the world, and boasts about 40 million total members. That’s a lot of potential love to choose from! A decent number are active, and Zoosk claims that 3 million messages are sent via the platform every day. Users are generally younger, in their 20s and 30s, and the ratio of men to women is about 50/50. As with many other sites, free membership doesn’t get you too far. Really, if you want to make contact with users then you need to pay for premium. There are a decent number of special features for a pretty average subscription price, including Zoosk’s hot or not game, Carousel, flirty messages via Super Send, and more uniquely, Dating Insights and SmartPick. Essentially, Zoosk learns your usage patterns and dating desires actively as you make connections, browse profiles and send messages on the site and uses them to tailor your experience and introduce you to users the site (or rather its algorithm) thinks you will like.

Speedy Registration and a Helping Hand

Zoosk is really easy to sign up for, with very little info needed before you can access all free features. You have to validate your email address, and fill out a bit of information on yourself, like height, whether you have kids. Simple stuff. A great feature of Zoosk is that it walks you through your first time on the site, showing you how to use everything.

Looking for That Connection

You have three basic options for making connections on Zoosk.

These are the simple Online Now feature, Matches who are selected for you by Zoosk based on shared interests, and Carousel, which is Zoosk’s Hot or Not gaome.

Finishing off Your Profile

Everyone can view profiles on Zoosk, but they aren’t particularly enlightening. For maximum interest, add pictures. Beyond that, you can list your interests and basic physical characteristics as well as whether you smoke, drink, etc, and things like religion. Beyond that, it’s useful to say what you’re looking for, whether that’s Romance or just Fun, and to write a short bio of course.

Be a VIP!

Zoosk’s VIP membership allows you to message freely, as well as browsing incognito and using Zoosk’s interesting SmartPick feature. Prices are a little below average, with 3 and 6 month options, at 9.99 and 16.99 per month.

If you Need to Cancel

Click on your picture on the top right of the screen, and go to Account Settings and deactivate your profile to get rid of everything. Cancel membership fees (which will recur automatically otherwise) in the Subscription tab.

Zoosk Features

Easy Sign up

Zoosk is really simple to join. Initially, signing up takes about four minutes, and beyond that profiles are very simple to fill out. They just need a few of your interests, the kind of dating/online experience you’re looking for, a short bio and ideally a few pictures.

Hot or Not

Zoosk’s version of the popular hot or not game comes in the form of Carousel, which is free for all users and gives you a decent idea of who’s around as well as being an amusing pass time.

View Profiles

You can look at everyone else’s full profile with a free account on Zoosk. That means you can both see how compatible you are with every user that comes up in your searches or is recommended, and Zoosk can also learn pretty realistically about what you want for their smart matching features.

Smiles and Hearts

Although Zoosk is on the more serious end of dating sites generally, it still has a little bit of cheek. You can send smiles and hearts to users who look good to you, letting them know you’ve noticed them and want to flirt.

Who’s Lookin’ at You?

With Zoosk, you can always see who viewed your profile. That means if someone is interested but sorta trying to stay low key they’re out of luck! You can tell a mile off.

Premium Perks

What do you get if you pay for a premium account on Zoosk? Here are a few of the added benefits.

Message all Night long

All messaging capabilities are available when you subscribe to Zoosk, which is what makes it so essential if you find someone you’re interested in. If you can’t message, how will you ever knock their socks off with your wit and charm?

Be Invisible

When you pay for premium on Zoosk you can go incognito. Usually, this kind of feature is only a tool when working with other paid users, but on a site where everyone can see who had a peek at their profile it could be crucial!

Get Full SmartPicks

SmartPicks send you matches based on your actual activity and likes, plus the time you’ve spent looking at other users etc and the amount of messaging you’ve engaged in. Sure, it’s sort of like it’s reading your mind, but in a good way, right?

Zoosk Pros and Cons

Pros

Lots of features - Zoosk is great even as a free service
Great value - But, if you do want to pay for more/no ads, it’s cheap

And finally, my opinion on Zoosk

Zoosk appears to be just another mid-level dating app, but delve further and you’ll see that it has unique features to offer. Firstly, Zoosk may be mid-level in the UK, but its 40-million worldwide users beg to differ overall. So, if you don’t mind too much about location there are plenty of users to choose from. Zoosk’s design is pretty modern too, which is surprisingly rare in a site like this in an age of app-based dating for many. You won’t be confused, and you won’t get mad at this easy to use site. Which is something. You do need to pay to message, but prices are somewhere near the lower end of average and you can opt for a 1 month contract for a price that isn’t extortionately hiked up if you aren’t sure enough to go for longer. The biggest pull of Zoosk is its smart match technology, which claims it can use the details of your activity to find you a partner - or at least a solid match - without you inputting extra info. It seems like it might be worth a try at least, right? Zoosk doesn’t have much of an issue with fake profiles and scammers, though of course that’s always something to think about with online dating. Overall, if you’re looking for dating, whether it’s just fun or much more than that, Zoosk seems like a pretty good shout.

I found lots of responses on zoosk and after chatting to a few guys finally hit gold with someone who is now a special someone in my life. If you’re genuine and want to meet a long term partner there are some true gentleman on there. Thanks Zoosk, I’m now a very happy bunny.

I've been on other dating sites before but there's some about how zoosk made me attract so many admirers I was only trying it as a last resort before I admitted it wasn't meant for me to find love but look atr now!!! Zoosk has done it for me

Any dating site you need a thick skin but be brave, cliche though it is there really is someone for everyone. I returned to Zoosk having thought I’d met the one. Alas that wasn’t to be but every cloud, and I have met a wonderful lady and things are going extremely well. Thank you Zoosk!

generally good, have had a few dates, some good some bad and some carrying a lot of baggage and mental issues. Zoosk could do more about scammers, they take ages to remove obvious ones once reported, and the block function blocks ok but is ridiculous to try and unblock someone as the latest blocks are put right at the bottom and you can only scroll down a few at a time and believe me you will block a lot of ugly weirdos, dont expect too much when you meet, profile pictures can be 10 years or older.
